Saw the news of the permanent closure of Chinatown Food Street along Smith Street. The covid pandemic has really hit the F&B industry hard, especially those located in town area.

Decided to make a trip down to capture the post-closure atmosphere of the street. Despite the bright sunny day, it felt cold and the physical emptiness translates to an emotional one.

Eating is not just an activity to sustain life, it is also an activity to experience the ambience of a place, to connect with people over food, to taste and indulge in culinary excellence. It is one less location to enjoy local food. Hopefully the place can be rejuvenated post covid into a vibrant space again.
