Jonker Street,(English: Jonker Walk, Malay: Persiaran Jonker, Chinese pinyin: Jīcháng jiē), is an old street located in Melaka City, Melaka State, Malaysia, knotted with a trio of monuments, culture and leisure. This historical street, which is the core of the World Heritage Site of A City, was established in 2000 and has developed into a famous cultural tourist attraction.
The original meaning of “Jīcháng jiē” is derived from the Minnan language “Jiechang Street”, as the famous Chinese diplomatic envoy Cheng Ho made seven ocean voyages and was stationed in Malacca six times more than 600 years ago, setting up a “government factory” in the area and making more than 20 streets, mainly Jonker Street, the main street for the Chinese to move to. The surrounding streets and lanes became the earliest concentrated area for the Chinese to settle in the South Seas at that time. In addition to the many old buildings with Chinese Southern architecture, including the century-old Chinese hometown associations and temples, the street also has a night market from Friday to Sunday for three days in a row, from late afternoon to early morning, with stalls selling a variety of local food, fine arts and famous local products.

Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from late afternoon to early morning, the street is closed to traffic in order to make way for the night market, where a variety of local food, fine arts and famous local products are sold.
